Everyone knows the story of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory but youve never experienced it until youve seen it through the eyes of director Tim Burton. The new make of this movie is vastly different then the original. I was quite apprehensive about the Johnny Depp playing Willy Wonka. I personally felt that there are much better choices (ie Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Michael Jackson). Johnny Depp's portrayal of wacky Willy Wonka does the trick. All of the acting in thsi movie is a little bit over the top but cartoonish as in true Tim Burton form. Willy Wonka's factory takes on a much more sinister place in the 2005 release. Willy Wonkas motives to find a child successor seem much more clear. Expect much more backstory and a lot less singing as well as the sickest cracked out oompa loompas you could imagine. I think you need to look at this movie not as a remake of the original movie but rather as another interpretation of the original book. Overall I rate this movie a 5 out of 5. Its pretty sick.
